Casemiro's two-month exile

Casemiro's two-month exile
Casemiro has been kicking his heels for two months now. The Brazilian, who was the undisputed revelation of Real Madrid's pre-season, hasn't played a single minute for some 59 days. The last time the midfielder kicked a ball in anger was on 1st September in the 3-1 win over Athletic.

Since that date, he has missed a total of 10 matches, spending some on the bench (against Villarreal, Galatasaray, Getafe, Elche, Atlético and Málaga) and others still in the stands (against FC Copenhagen, Levante, Juventus and Barça).

This barren run is made all the more surprising considering the starlet played a part in the first three games of the season, getting 35 minutes under his belt against Betis, 26 against Granada and 21 against Athletic. On the way, he earned no small praise from Ancelotti, who again hailed the midfielder in a recent interview: "He's an excellent player, but we have to remember that he's only 21. He'll have ample time to play in the future".

Casemiro, meanwhile, is not rocking the boat, instead keeping a smile on his face and continuing to work hard and await his opportunity. A year ago he would never have dreamed of being a Real Madrid player and he intends to enjoy every minute of it.
